Progress Thus Far

Image
Well, I've been working on the red amaryllis and this is how far I've gotten. I really don't know what to do about a background. I am almost thinking about leaving it blank, but no that won't do. Any help would be appreciated. Just sign up for a free account and make a comment. I have considered sponging in a muted background, say light shade of yellow ocher. I really don't know. By the way, this photo was taken outside to get natural light, but looks like some shadows fell across it. Oh well.

My watercolor class

This is me and my watercolor class. It was the day of Game 1 (Detroit vs. Phoenix) so of course I had to support my team and wear my jersey (they think I'm nuts). Anyway, it is BriannaV., me, Isaac G., and Danny S. They are a great bunch of young adults and excellent artists.

A New Project

Image
I just started this painting last week. It is an amaryllis. I did a painting like this a few years back but gave the painting to a good friend last year. Now I want one for myself. I'm doing a smaller version of the painting,a half sheet. I like how it is coming along so far. I don't know what I will do with the background yet.

Another Finished Piece

Here is my third Sunflower painting. I love the blue sky, very Arizona-ish. I hope you like it too.

My Students

Image
These are paintings that my students did in class. The object of the lesson was to focus on the negative space, hence my sunflower painting with the crazy background. They were given the assignment to do a tree and extend the branches beyond the edges of the paper. I think they both did beautiful work. My third student also did a great job but wasn't present the day I took photos.

Now I'm Done

I'm pretty confident that I am done with this painting now. I added a lot more ultramarine blue around the flower petals.
