I submitted two painting to the AAG for their Fall Exhibition and one of my pieces was accepted! I am very excited about this, it's my first juried show in Arizona. Apparently 85 artists submitted 250 pieces for consideration. I don't know how many were accepted, I'll find out at the reception November 5.

Art Classes Start Tomorrow

...and frankly, I'm petrified. I will be teaching 3 classes this semester. Two I've done for the past 2 years: Art of the Masters- an elementary art class and Watercolor for high schoolers. Those, I expect, will go well. The third and newest class is acrylic painting with middle schoolers. I will have 8 students, 2 more than I should have taken and we are the last class of the day. I sure hope they have fun and learn something in the process. Let the games begin (or the painting begin...). More later.

Print making

My middle school class has been creating different giraffe artwork for the past month. This week we made prints from 'stamps' that they made of cut foam pieces on cardboard and acrylic paint. All of the students wanted to do secondary prints -color on color. I think the results were great and they all enjoyed the process.

Commission Pineapple Painting

Working on a commission piece for a friend. This pineapple painting has been popular over the past few years. I love working with watercolor!First I lay down a base of yellow and then build up the colors from there. I bought quinacridone gold last year and have just now begun using it. It's beautiful. Anyway, here's my progress so far.
